Here, you will find all the major (and even minor) projects that I have worked on in recent history. There are some major projects from my college classes (i.e., Senior Design projects, Senior Design Lab, Database Systems projects, etc.) and there are some major projects that I have developed on my own spare time (i.e., AuthFW, phpRush, etc.) Minor projects would include code snippets, pseudo code, thoughts on new and upcoming developments, and such.

By sharing these projects (and the code that goes along with it, of course), I hope you learn something out of it. All of my work, unless specified otherwise, is published under GNU GPL licence. Which means, you are free to use it.

Finally! after a long time, the much awaited ‘next-release’ of this plugin is here!
It’s with pleasure, yet again, that I make the announcement of releasing 2nd (and much improved) version of project: Readability Meter Plugin.

What is it?

This plugin simply adds a graphical display, showing who the target demographic (i.e. audience) is, towards whom the post/article is published. In other words, display graphically, whether your article is geared towards Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Experts, or Gurus Users.

I would really appreciate if users post their feedback on this Plugin, along with any feature requests, bug reports, or anything that you see fit.

Who Can Use This Plugin?

Well, pretty much anyone can use this plugin. However, I had ‘Tutorial’ or ‘Guides’ writers in mind… As they can indicate the comprehension level right at the top of their article, making it easy–for example–for expert users of that particular topic, to just skim through the article. However, if you can see it as a good piece to be added to your own site, by all means use it!

Features:

No Fuss Install

Preview Selected Readability Meter

Display Currently Selected Readability Meter

No Unnecessary DB Entries: i.e., The plugin will not make any revision/auto-save related entries. it will make entries only that is related to the current post.

NEW!!!

Alternate Article

Remove Readability Meter

Customized Display Text

Customized Choice Words

For a complete list of changes, please refer to the change-log_v0.2.txt

Added SourceForge Project Download Link

Added SourceForge Code Download Link

It is with great pleasure that I announce the first ever (beta) public release of my latest project “RoboDown” codenamed RapidRush (go figure!). This is a beta, so expect bugs! All of your inputs regarding bugs/feature suggestions/etc. would be greatly appreciated, as this would aid in further development of the project.

Now, on with some explanation:

What is it?

RoboDown -- RapidShare Downloader

RoboDown is a, type of, download manager for RapidShare; this project is intented for FREE users only! if you want/or are looking for a download manager for premium users, there are far better/sophisticated/advanced download managers out there.

I don’t get it… What exactly does it do?

Okay, I will try and break this down and simplify it as much as possible: The way that RapidShare works is as follows–User A uploads a file (for our purposes, assume the Max size = 200 MB). Upon successful upload, RapidShare provides User A with a URL/Link to the uploaded file that only User A knows (technically, this is not true, thanks to all those RapidShare search engines, but just go with it…). Next, User A sends out an email containing the RapidShare link to his/her friend(s) and notifies where they could obtain the file from. User B then navigates to that link and is provided a choice of download: Download the file as a “Free user” or as a “Premium user”. User B selects “Free user” and than waits for X seconds. Upon expiration of this timer, RapidShare provides a Final download link to User B, which User B clicks on and starts the download.

This is as simple as it gets. Now it’s great if its just one file that User B needs to download… it can be managed. However, imagine if User A had uploaded multiple files (e.g. 5 files, each measuring up to 200MB). The way RapidShare handles downloads is that once a user downloads a file, they would have to wait 15 or so minutes before they could download the next file… For User B, the task of downloading all these files becomes arduous: ENTER RoboDown

With the aid of RoboDown, all that User B needs to do is copy and paste a comma seperated list of links and let RoboDown download the files “Robotically”!

Why did you make this?

As you (might) know, I am from India. A lot of my friends back home send me pics/vids of their latest adventures. Emailing these medias is very cumbersome for not only them, but also for people on the receiving end. So they upload it on RapidShare and send me the links–at times a list of multi-part links. Being a Computer Scientist, this was just too much clicking/waiting/clicking somemore/ and then waiting somemore for me to handle… So I made an attempt at automating this task.

Also, this is my first attempt at C#: This language has always been elusive for me… I have always wanted to learn C#, but for some reason or other, it always got put back on the backburner; So I asked myself, “What better way to (finally) learn this language than do a project in it?” The results: I loved it! C# has become my second favorite language (right behind PHP). Expect many more public releases of my work in C# in distant future. ’nuff said.

How about some ScreenShots?!
Sure, here you go

Main Application Screen

About Dialog

Why the name “RoboDown”?

The thought-process in naming this project “RoboDown” was to have a name that satisfactorily described what the project is all about, plus the place where it is intented to be used for, and finally the author: Robotically Downloading a link (or list of links) from RapidShare, codenamed RapidRush.

To be honest, I wanted to name this project “AutoDown” however, it was already taken by some other project (for automating some other task altogether). So, the next name that came to mind right away was “RapidRush”… However, soon after, I changed it to “RapidDown” and then finally to “RoboDown”.

Is it opensource?

Hell YES! All my projects (barring any security reasons) would be opensource! You are free to download the code and play with it. All I ask is to not remove any copyright information. Look below for more information on the source code access…

It’s with GREAT pleasure that I make the announcement of releasing my latest project: Content Icons Plugin for WordPress 2.7.

It’s with GREAT pleasure that I make the announcement of releasing my latest project: Content Icons Plugin for WordPress 2.7.

What is it?

Simply put, Content Icons is a tool that an author can use to assign “icons” or “images” to individual posts… similar in idea to having Topic Icons. However, biggest difference being, topic icons only display icons that are related or associated with the category (Hence Topic Icon). Content Icons allows author to assign icons such that a reader can readily make an association with the post.

This being the first release of this project, it’s been given version 0.1. Please don’t let the version number deceit you. It has packed with a lot of features (look below for a list of features). However, it is my coding convention that my first ever release of any project starts with 0.1, and increments to 0.5 for the next release, and finally to 1.0, 2.0, etc. with every subsequent release (barring any minor updates).

Features:

No Fuss Install: Simply upload your icons into the upload directory at:

Preview Selected Icon

Display Currently Selected Icon

Project Details:

Project Name: Course Content Central

Project From: CSE 269 — Senior Design Lab

Project Type: Group Project

Project Role: Developer/Coder.

Project Desc.: Inspirations for this project came from my old job, (where I worked for over an year). The company I worked for, provided online classes to multiple/different healthcare and healthcare related professionals such as Doctors, Nurses, Psychiatrists, etc. and we needed an efficient and “dynamic” way of presenting those classes. Before the development of this project, the front-end of the class system was all static–designed in much dreaded frontpage. I mean, it did have some “functionalities”, better than plain-old HTML, however, in order to update content, one needed to update multiple files (as it ever so happens with static sites). Hence, I got my group or the senior design lab to agree on developing a solution to this… I took the lead in coding, as I had envisioned the idea and I knew exactly what needs to be developed and how. As it turned out, this project was a grand success… I used this as my backbone/framework to developing the actual solution for my old company. So, without further adieu, please check out my online-classes system, a senior design lab project at: http://cse269.codingrush.com

Project Name: Spindle

Project From: CSE 293 — Senior Design

Project Type: Group Project

Project Role: Developer/Coder.

Project Desc.: There was a lot of pressure on my group for this class. This class being the most (or at least one of the most) important classes of Computer Science Curriculum, we wanted to do something big, something huge! However, for couple of weeks into the semester, my group couldn’t decide on exactly which direction we would be heading… Furthermore, I did have couple of my own ideas, however, I didn’t want to implement those because of UConn’s policy on capitalization on a idea (if it ever makes it big!)–I rather not go into the details, I will save that for some other time. So here we were, pondering multiple options and finally one group member, Mr. Rob Dowden, wanted to do something similar to my CSE 269 project (look above for details) for his own employer… So we took that and ran with it. The outcome of it was: Spindle! So, without further adieu, please check out Spindle–my Senior Design project–at: http://cse293.codingrush.com
