Project Release
It’s with GREAT pleasure, yet again, that I make the announcement of releasing my yet another latest project: Readability Meter Plugin for WordPress 2.7.
What is it?
This plugin simply adds a graphical display, showing who the target demographic (i.e. audience) is, towards whom the post/article is published. In other words, display graphically, whether your article is geared towards Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Experts, or Gurus Users.
As with any of my first releases, it’s been given version 0.1. I would really appreciate if users post their feedback on this Plugin, along with any feature requests, bug reports, or anything that you see fit.
Who Can Use This Plugin?
Well, pretty much anyone can use this plugin. However, I had ‘Tutorial’ or ‘Guides’ writers in mind… As they can indicate the comprehension level right at the top of their article, making it easy–for example–for expert users of that particular topic, to just skim through the article. However, if you can see it as a good piece to be added to your own site, by all means use it!
Features:
- No Fuss Install
- Preview Selected Readability Meter
- Display Currently Selected Readability Meter
- No Unnecessary DB Entries: i.e., The plugin will not make any revision/auto-save related entries. it will make entries only that is related to the current post.
Enough… Show Me the Needed Info!
Questions? Comments? Critiques?
Please post all your questions/comments/critiques below, in the comment section. I will try and set the forums up, but till then, this will suffice.
Enjoy!

Hi Rushi.
Nice and usable plugin. I`d like to propose a a idea for further development.
Sometimes when publishing for multiple target demographics one might publish one article for novices/schoolkids and one article for experts/academic audience.
It would have been nice to have a plugin automatically mark the different aricles like your plugin does, but with automated links to the articles aimed at the other demographics.
John Myrstad
hi. Thanks for plugin
perfect.
Regards
Nice plug-in, I write articles quite often and just switched over to WordPress, this will go well with my target audience. Only issue I see though and you might consider adding or updating is when I testing the widget on a test page: http://www.louiealvarez.com/?p=271 it came out as expected but when I went to remove it from the posting your plug-in doesn’t allow for that. Some suggestions:
1/ Allow removal of Readability Meter
2/ Allow changing choice words
3/ Allow readers to determine themselves what the readability is
4/ Allow resizing of the meter, for me simply to large
Good work on your first release though. I would rank it a 4 if I knew how
(worth a 5 with the suggestions added).

@Mr. Myrstad:
Do you mean to say that, when writing an article/post, give an option to the author to specify a URL which gives the same article/post but with higher/lower comprehendibility?
(for example, when writing an article that is geared towards novice users, an author would provide a link to his/her post on the same topic that is geared towards expert users?)
Thank you, for your feedback
@Mr. baron:
Thank you
@Mr. Alvarez:
All four suggested features will be incorporated in the next/future release(s). My immediate goal for this plugin will be to allow for custom words (your suggestion #2–i.e., instead of Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, Guru, you can specify what appears) AND most importantly, rectify the “removal” of the Readability Meter (your suggestion #1).
Thank you, for your feedback
Great Plugin… will be using it on my site!
Excellent stuff, I was about to write this plugin, delighted someone’s done so already.
What you have so far is fantastic. Here’s a couple of things that could be further improved on:
- allow total customisation of text fields & images (including number available) as well as the “This Article is Geared towards” text
- pick a more unique div id than “info”
Cheers,
Alastair.
@Mr. Alex:
Thank you…. please look for a updated release with new features within next week…
@Mr. Alastair:
I will incorporate your suggestions in my next release.
Dear All,
Quick Update:
I have almost finished implementing majority of the requested features… Will be releasing my plugin Tomorrow Evening!
